Online MLM Recruiting - Is it possible?

Let’s face it, everything is moving to cyberspace these days. I personally have never tried to recruit downline distributors online and I have a question for any of you who have. Does it work? and How successful have you been building your mlm business online?
I imagine that if you are saavy in the internet marketing world that it would be possible to generate your own leads and grow your business. I also believe that there would still need to be some type of human interaction towards the end of the process. Technology is in my opinion a good way to weed out the tire kickers so you can spend time with the people with the most interest and therefore the most potential.
